The research vessel Dardanella did on August 4th set sail for Greenland and Newfoundland from Reykjavik as she embarked on a 3-4 year journey circumventing the Americas. On board, a large group of researchers will complete a series of projects involving underwater recordings of sea mammals, workshops on various topics and the documentation of issues pertinent to events, people and places the Dardanella encounters on her long journey.
The results will become accessible to the general public as part of The Living Archives, a website accessible to scholars, researches and artist who like to use the content in the future. The archiving on board and the online representation of the massive abundance of content is designed, developed and run by Grapewire and Berlin’s Zitromat Design for the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary in Vienna.
